Disabled during COVID-19

I wrote this at a time that I was feeling less confident overall.

The world continues to try to find ways to “save the economy” during COVID-19. Many states are reaching hospital capacity with some states setting eugenic-like practices based on perceived value to prioritize care for those “most likely” to survive. Sadly with the structural racism and ableism in the Medical Industrial Complex, these decisions use values based in the norms people are comfortable with and may not be based in the truths of those being treated. Rationing has become a necessity because our society sees more value in the production of capital than in the needs of those most at risk and most impacted by COVID-19.

The economy will be saved when all basic needs are met during this crisis and every other one that happens. Once the crisis passes, then we can focus on how to restart the economy. The government must provide support during the crisis that isn’t dependent on our ability to produce!!

The current programs fail to meet the needs of some people while putting the needs of corporations and businesses first.

Human needs are essential over corporate greed.
Human needs are essential over corporate greed.
Human needs are essential over corporate greed.
